Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q. What is TinyGrab?

TinyGrab is an application for Mac OS X and Windows that instantly uploads screenshots, or 'grabs'. After upload a URL is automatically copied to your clipboard (either in tiny or long format depending on your preference) for you to easily share with friends, colleagues or anyone else for that matter.
  • Q. Are there Linux and iPhone versions of TinyGrab?

Currently TinyGrab will run on Mac OS X 10.5+ (Leopard and higher) and Windows XP+ (XP and higher), but Linux and iPhone versions are planned for the future. For TinyGrab Premium account holders these apps will function using the same accounts, meaning that you pay no extra (£10 one off payment!) regardless of the number of platforms you run TinyGrab on.
  • Q. Can I access URLs of grabs I've taken already?

Of course! In the Menubar click the TinyGrab icon. A list of your last five grabs or uploads is displayed there and you can simply click the desired image. If the grab you want isn't there and you're a TinyGrab Premium user you can visit your user page to see all of your past grabs.
  • Q. Can I delete an image if I upload the wrong one?

If you have a TinyGrab Premium account, yes. TinyGrab Premium allows for easy management and organisation of images and grabs online. Login to your account on the TinyGrab website and navigate to your online control panel (http://tinygrab.com/go/panel) to do this.
  • Q. That sound is getting on my nerves, can I disable it?

That's easy. In TinyGrab, simply navigate to 'Preferences'. Under the 'General' tab there are options to disable sounds, the Dock Icon and Automatic Uploads if you so wish.
  • Q. The icon is cluttering my Dock — can I turn it off? (Mac)

In TinyGrab, simply navigate to 'Preferences'. Under the general tab there are options to disable sounds, the Dock Icon and Automatic Uploads if you so wish.
  • Q. Can I upload an image that isn't a grab?

With TinyGrab this couldn't be simpler. If you have the Dock Icon enabled (Mac only) drag the image you wish to share onto the icon and it will be uploaded in the usual fashion. If you do not have the Dock Icon, go to the Menubar/System Tray icon and click "Upload Image". In the drop down/pop up menu, you will see an option called "Upload Image"; click it and select the image for upload.
  • Q. Why aren't my grabs auto-uploading?

There are several reasons why TinyGrab might not nessecarily be auto-uploading images correctly. Auto-uploads must be enabled in the TinyGrab drop down/pop up menu. Click the TinyGrab Menubar/System Tray icon and click "Enable Uploading", if this feature is already enabled you will see "Disable Uploading" instead. If your OS is Max OS X and you're still experiencing this issue, there are two other factors. TinyGrab (currently) will only automatically upload images saved in the PNG or JPG format. The Mac OS X utility 'Spotlight' must also be enabled. Disabling Spotlight prevents TinyGrab from working correctly.
  • Q. I'm concerned about your URL shortening.

TinyGrab uses a sequential method of shortening links to grabs. We follow the same techniques that are used by other URL shorteners, such as bit.ly, is.gd, TinyPic and TwitPic. We do this so that we can give you the smallest possible URL that we can provide. Please be aware that it is easy for people to 'sumble' across any grabs uploaded with a short URL, by simply typing in random chracter sequences. We strongly advise you NEVER to upload anything with sensative information. You can turn short URLs off, and use secret long encrypted URLs instead, by visiting your Online Control Panel.
